Alicia Boole Stott fand, ohne eine ausführliche Ausbildung als Mathematikerin erfahren zu haben, die sechs regulären Polytope in vier Dimensionen. Sie fand erst später heraus, dass sie damit die Theorien eines anderen Mathematikers, Ludwig Schläfli, bestätigt hatte. Der Begriff Polytope geht auf sie zurück, sie schrieb mehrere wissenschaftliche Arbeiten mit dem Mathematiker Pieter Schoute darüber und stellte Modelle aus Pappe dazu her. Wer sich weiter mit Tesserakten, Hyperwürfeln und anderen 4- und 5-Polytopen (s.u.) auseinandersetzt, wird verstehen, was für eine Leistung das ist.

Alicia Boole Stott, without having had an extensive education as a mathematician, discovered the six regular polytopes in four dimensions. She only found out later, that thus she had confirmed the theories of another mathematician, Ludwig Schläfli. She coined the term polytope, wrote several papers on them with the studied mathematician Pieter Schoute and actually built cardboard models of her geometrical bodies.
